Description
Latino Leaders convened a diverse round table to elicit unique perspectives on pipelining, preparing and positioning Hispanics for board service, Moderator and Board Issue Special-Editor Pablo Schneider summarized that the goal of the roundtable was to get perspectives from diverse participants including up-and-coming executive Miguel Saez (Citi and NSHMBA); talent specialist Jesus Maldonado Reyes (formerly of BlackRock and Goldman Sachs); senior executive Mary Medina (Center for Trustee Initiatives of the Greater New York Hospital Association); George Herrera (Herrera-Christina Group and Wyndham Worldwide Corporation) and Boardroom Advisor and Corporate Governance Author Beverly Behan (who has worked with 100 boards in the last 15 years and serves as a columnist for Business Week). What prompted your interest in board service and how is it valuable to your professional development? Miguel Saez: I met the founding board members of the New Jersey chapter of NSHMBA, and when the opportunity became available they thought of me. I've been with the board for three years. As far as gaining professional development, this is a different level of individuals that I was dealing with at the board level. And I received exposure through the organization's different corporate sponsors.
